The new it-girl

There's a new it-girl in town! It's the namibian model Behati Prinsloo. She is born May 16, 1989 and is mostly known for her work as spokesmodel for the Victoria's Secret sub-brand Pink. Behati has said that she was discovered at a supermarket in Cape Town (South Africa) by a photographer. After she had visited the agency and had taken some polaroids she signed with Storm Model Management and was taken to London by the agency founder Sarah Doukas. Even though Behati herself made this statement many people believe that she was initially spotted by Sarah Doukas at the supermarket.

She has appeared on the cover of Italy's Muse magazine, the British Telegraph Magazine, the Russian Vouge and the American Velvet magazine. Her ad campaigns include Adore, Chanel, H&M, Hugo Boss, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Nina Ricci and so on. She has walked in fashion shows for Prada, Paul Smith, Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs, Versace, Chanel, Missoni, DKNY and Proenza Schouler and of course Victoria's Secret. Behati is ranked 31st on the Top 50 Models Woman and 14th on "the Top Sexiest Models" list by models.com.

By her second season in the model circulation, she had walked on more than 70 runways a season! She is best friends with model Coco Rocha and is often featured on Rocha's famous blog. She has dated fellow model Jamie Strachen (and he is HOT!). She also plays the rich girl in the music video "Rich Girls" by The Virgins and she appeared in the first episode of MTV's reality show The City.

So lets make some space for the new it-girl Behati Prinsloo!

Oriental

This spring the designers have been inspired by the East.
Kimonos, thick silk and wide obi-like belts. It is obvious that designers turned their heads towards the East while searching for inspiration for this season's collections. At Missoni the dresse's arms were like kimonos and wide belts were to see around the waist. Marc Jacobs has made cute tops with butterflypattern with scarves fastened around the waist, while Dolce & Gabbana has combined blouses looking like pajamas with patterned skirt. Do not put more than one elemet of the oriental trend to your outfit. Be aware of not crossing the line.

Uptown vs. downtown

Uptown 80s: Dress for success in 80s-inspired power suits

For a more grown-up take on 80s style, the flipside og the bodycorn trend, this look is all about structure pieces - see Stella McCartney's mannish jacke - and strong shapes (yes, big shoulders are back) for a modern twist on power dressing.

Downtown 80s: Material girls mix acid-wash denim with retro brights

It's been called 'the decade that style forgot', but that didn't stop designers from drawing heavily from the 80s for inspiration this season. Bleached and ripped denim, black Lycra, off-the-shoulders tops and block brights will all ensure your wardrobe is on-trend for spring/summer.
